Consumer Critiques

Let's begin off by saying that this is the 1st outdoor RC helicopter I've owned. Still I have a little fleet of indoor RC's, such as three S107G's which is what the S031G is modeled just after. The gyro is unbelievable, as is the super easy trim dial. Despite the reality that I broke the upper blade grip the 1st time out (hit the only metal light pole in 1000ft radius), I'd say this is a Pretty durable little machine. The key rotor blades are powerful -- too strong. My nearby hobby guy had the part in stock. Even so, when examining it he noticed that I have the old style battery rather than the new LiPo battery which explains the 75 - 90 min. charging time. The new LiPo is one particular of the improvements supposedly produced to the "G" model. At least I still get an honest ten-15 minutes per charge. Speaking of "power" the S031G is really underpowered by style, when facing even the slightest headwind. It is got OK lift, but the horizontal tail rotor blade is also little or wants to be fully redesigned. I'm NOT talking about gusty 10-15 mph winds, thoughts you, I'm talking about breezes, perhaps 5-7 mph. Lift is fantastic but I located that hand launching greatly elevated my flying time. Once in the air employing the power to move against slight headwinds will get you into trouble if you do not have sufficient practice. The S031G likes to fly high -- and it will if you are not careful. I try not to exceed 20ft since of the forward thrust difficulty. However, I've gotten it well more than 150ft when I realized I may possibly be in trouble and panicked, cut the power too significantly, and nonetheless landed right on the skids. I would genuinely like to see a redesigned version of this model that gives adequate forward thrust for common flying circumstances. I feel the S031G is a helicopter with a lot of prospective, but falls brief considering of it is inability to fly correctly in most useable circumstances. I'd positive appreciate to fly it in a major empty warehouse!

Incredibly solid piece of flying equipment. The gyro technique is top rated-notch and only needs Very minor trimming out of the box! Maiden flight was in a small kitchen region and stuck the landing perfectly! This model is the absolute, by far, the best I've used for newbie / advanced-newbie education. With such stable flight, you can actually put the craft via the paces and focus less on more than- / below-controlling the flight path. Pros: stabilized elevation stick, durable heli physique with forgiving rotors, quick to set up and get started flying, particularly responsive to all stick movements, Pretty affordable replacement parts are on the market, and can move really quickly when placed in the tail rotor 'boost' mode. Cons: wish it had the 4th channel for even additional advanced instruction just brief of moving to single-rotor equipment. Overall - couldn't be happier!
