Consumer Evaluations

Ok I did not decide to buy this on Amazon, I got it at a local expo show and paid a tiny way more but it is the same heli. This is a very great helicopter and in spite of other reviews appears to be fairly sturdy. To give an example I have crashed quite a few instances, which includes into the ground, into a tree, a telephone pole, a steel automotive lift (the issues that lift vehicles in mechanic shops), while I have a couple of dents and dings in the rotors they are nevertheless solid and it nonetheless flies. The balance bar bent as nicely but I just bent it back and all is nicely. I would contact that fairly very good thinking about some of the even more high dollar helis like my friend has the rotor will shatter upon get in touch with with a solid surface.
There is a studying curve to flying this. Just considering that it is a gyro copter, dont believe that you can just take it out and fly with out crashing. I had a hard time obtaining off the ground for the initial day, ground effect came in and made it go left every time. Just after some practice and messing with the trim tabs on day two I got genuinely good at it. It is affected by wind but ALL helicopters are. This is to incorporate actual helicopters. Not a thing I generally bring up but in this case it may well support, I use to be on a flight line with the AH-64A and AH-64D on a normal basis, I also worked on the guidance systems and weapons. Wind has a dramatic have an effect on on a sizeable heli so modest winds can and will knock an RC to the ground. Battery time is not poor, I get about 15 minutes per charge, it takes about two.five hrs to recharge the battery. Again just a suggestion, but get fine with it at about 1.five - 2 ft off the ground very first. Its tougher to fly closer to the ground simply because of ground effects so if you can get decent close to the ground you should certainly have no issues greater in the air.

For the price tag, you basically get a fairly decent piece of hardware. That being stated, there are a handful of modifications I would make prior to use. It says ready to fly on the box, and fly it will... how well is undoubtedly open to debate. Soon after replacing the rear rotor you will have to move the rear stabilizers up on the boom to make space for the bigger blades.
An additional mod that assists a lot is to replace the battery with a bigger a single, like a 15c 7.4v 3000mah. This also improves the flight characteristics by rising weight in the nose, and more than all (less likely to be batted about by the wind)
Make positive to buy a full set of replacement parts. You will need them... the helicopter is hard, dont get be incorrect (I have crashed from 40+ feet with small to no harm) but there are breakable components like the blade holders. (they are low-cost, get a hand full)

A lot of many people seem to knock this helicopter mainly because they don't ever want to work on it. That's element of the hobby... Improving and repairing the gear. Its not all that complex, and the parts are Cheap, which is a boon. There are numerous 'hobby grade' helicopters out there you could spend a lot even more money on that almost certainly fly far better and so on... but the cost of maintainability goes WAY up. Give some thought to that for an initial investment of ~$60 its really a hoot.
